William Shakespeare was an English pot, playwright and an actor. He is known as one of the world’s greatest dramatist and writer of English language. He is even called England’s National poet. He was the son of John Shakespeare who was a glove-maker and an alderman and his mother was Mary Arden. He was born and raised in Stratford-Upon-Warwickshire. The date of his birth is unknown but he was baptised on 26th April 1564.
There is no proper record, but it is said by many biographers that he was probably educated at the King’s New School at Stratford. When Shakespeare was 18 years old, he got married to Anne Hathaway who 26 years old. After few months of their marriage, Anne gave birth to a daughter who was named Susana and later two twins were born. the son was named Hamnet and daughter was named Judith. At the age of 11, Hamnet died due to some unknown causes.
His works included 39 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems and a few other verses. Between 1585-1592, he started a successful career in London as an actor, playwright . Between the years 1589 to 1613, he produced most of his plays and in his early career he mostly wrote comedies and histories which were were known as the best works of his career. Till the year 1608, he wrote many epic tragedies like Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth. These works of his are considered to be the best in the English language till date. His works are translated in almost all the major languages spoken all over the world. Shakespeare even collaborated with many other playwrights and wrote tragicomedies in the last phase of his life. His plays are considered as epic and have been continuously modified and rediscovered by scholars and in performances. His plays were very popular throughout the 20th and 21st centuries and are still performed, studied around the world.
William Shakespeare died on 23rd April 1616 in Stratford, England. The reason for his death is not known, butit is said that he died within a month after he signed a document in which he said that he was in a perfect health condition.
