In the city of Elsinore, situated in Denmark resides a ghost of a deceased ghost at night on the castle battlements. He was upset as his brother Claudius was the new king and also the husband of Queen Gertrude. The major problem of Claudius was Norway’s Prince Fortinbras who was about to start a war and his stepson Hamlet is being a problem for him as his mother got married as soon as his father died.
Horatio who was the bud of Hamlet, tells him about the ghost and arranges a meeting with him. The Ghost was claiming to be his father and wanted him to take revenge as he told Hamlet that Claudius killed him by pouring poison into his ears, while Hamlet was snoozing in the garden.
Hamlet makes a plan in which he would act to be mad, and then his girlfriend Ophelia will declare that he is gone crazy. Polonius brings this news to the king, and he decides to spy on both of them and get to know whether she is the source of his madness or not. When all this is going on, there’s a good news from Norway brought by the Danish Ambassadors that there isn’t going to be any war.
The King and the Queen call upon two childhood friends of Hamlet who were Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. They were called to spy on Hamlet and to know the reason of his madness. But they fail to do this. In the meantime, Hamlet calls some actors into the town to perform a play in which the King is murdered in the same way Claudius murdered his father. Hamlet wanted to see the reaction of Claudius so that he can know whether the ghost was right or wrong.
Hamlet acts weird and creepy with his girlfriend Ophelia before he sees Claudius accept that he killed his father. Ham;let decides to kill him but at end he kills Ophelia’s father Polonius. After this, he was sent off to England. But on the way he finds that the Prince of Norway was on his way to fight for some of his lost territories. By seeing this he heads back to Denmark to kill Claudius.
Ophelia’s brother Laerteses gets pissed off at Hamlet for killing his father. Seeing this, Claudius convinces Laertes to kill the Prince in a friendly dual by using a sharpened sword rather then a blunt one and also some poison on the sword which would act as a backup.
Ophelia commits suicide and doesn’t even get a proper burial. A big scene gets created between Hamlet and Laertes as he randomly falls at the funeral. When hamlet was on the boat to England, he opens up the letter that his companions Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were carrying in which there was an order to kill Hamlet. Hamlet alters the letter and says to kill both of his companions. After this he escapes on a pirate ship to Denmark.
In the last scene, during the dual between Hamlet and Laertes, Gertrude drinks the poisoned wine and Hamlet gets cut with the poisoned sword by Laertes. Hamlet wounds him back. A that time Laertes shouts that it was Claudius’s fault. After this Claudius also get stabbed by Hamlet and is also made to drink the poisoned wine. Horatio wanted to kill himself at that time, but Hamlet stops him from doing it and says that it is his job to tell everyone about Hamlet. At the end, Prince of Norway Fortibras walks in and takes over the thrown.
